Jeannie Been in love with all these songs for over a week now, listening most days especially while meditating. Beautiful lyrics and sounds. Fragile and Mine are my most played songs from the album .. such great songs with emotional impacts! Favorite track: Fragile.

Matthew Ratzloff On a whim, I did a search for "twee pop" and came across this. I'm so impatient on Bandcamp that most artists only get a few seconds of my attention, and my first reaction for Abigail Stauffer was on the fence. But I went back and started from the beginning of the album and let it run in the background. Within a few songs I was sold. The vocals and music are great, but the lyrics were what did it for me. Favorite track: Ready.

VERSE 1: Don’t act like you’re my love You’ve done enough Just let it fall away You fit just like a glove Without a match I’m better off without you I used to feel complete Until you shared your warmth But only gave me Some protection from the cold I’m better off balanced, If exposed At least I know where I stand At least I know When I’m alone CHORUS: I’m finding that I’m better off alone Better, better off I’m finding that I’m better off alone I’m better off balanced, if exposed At least I know where I stand At least I know When I’m alone VERSE 2: Don’t tell me that you’ll stay Then walk away Without saying a word Don’t let me believe that you are brave If you can’t face a little sadness Your strength is all in vain [CHORUS] BRIDGE: This game you play You say we don’t have expectations And it’s the only time you’ll use First person plural I did not agree to this Complete lack of agreement I need a reason to stay But you give me none CHORUS 2: I’m finding that I’m better off alone better, better off I’m finding that I’m better off alone You can take your lack of expectations and good luck on your next relationship I’m fine without your unwillingness to try Better off alone, better, better off Better off alone better, better off I’m finding that I’m better off, better off, better I’m finding that I’m better off alone CHORUS …

Ducks 03:46
VERSE 1: Awake my soul and see The ducks are mating It’s not a graceful dance But it’s still amazing Two legs, two wings The way she sings will win her no awards But as she waddles by I can’t deny, the duck is gorgeous CHORUS: Open your eyes and look around You are surrounded by delight If you learn to recognize it It’s on the ground It’s in the skies, it’s right beside you Just decide to take delight Cause delight might like to take you too VERSE 2: Doomsayers and haters They wait for disaster to strike The wrongs that prove them right Trash talkers and gawkers They only see different as ugly But that’s not what I see I believe what we seek we will find And I’m not looking for any more trouble I only want to find beauty [CHORUS] BRIDGE: Tomorrow the sun will rise Although you may sleep in The beautiful is in disguise She wears a mask, but if you ask I think she’ll show you where to find her [CHORUS]
3.
Mine 03:44
VERSE 1: My heart is frail Be careful not to break it You see my strength I know my weaknesses So please don’t take this lightly I think I might be at risk of losing everything If when you go My love goes too I’m left alone CHORUS: Though I rise before the dawn, You are, you are moving on You are, You are moving on You are, you are But even after you are gone I am, I am holding on I am, I am holding on To this love The love I have is mine to hold The love I have is mine VERSE 2: My heart is always aching With what I put it through Drag it in the dirt Feelin’ all the hurt Hoping that it’s worth it If love’s a victory I wear it like defeat Someone teach me love won’t leave me If I want it’s mine to keep [CHORUS] VERSE 3: My heart was frail When all it knew of love was fear But now it’s stronger knows no longer am I left alone The love I have is mine The love I have is mine to hold The love I have is mine The love I have is mine to hold I’m never ever left alone [CHORUS]
4.
Fragile 03:50
I sit beside the sea It looks as full as I feel empty My heart is in the sand the water is trying to understand me But it can’t I am small and insignificant I was swallowed Spit me out again I seek a balanced heart To feel emotion But not be ripped apart I want to be alright If I’m alone when day is done and there’s no comfort from the sunlight I am small and insignificant I was swallowed Spit me out again I live inside a whale The journey’s long Don’t know where I’m going The world is far above I hope to get there but for the moment I am small and insignificant I was swallowed spit me out again

Verse 1: Oftentimes I have heard you speak Of one who commits wrong As though he were not one of you But I say that even as the righteous Cannot rise beyond the highest Which is in each one of you So the wicked and the weak Cannot fall lower than the lowest Which is in you also, The lowest is in you also And as a single leaf turns not yellow Without the silent knowledge of the whole tree The wrongdoer cannot do wrong Without the hidden will of you all You cannot separate Chorus: You cannot separate the good from the wicked You cannot separate the guilty and unblamed You cannot separate the condemned from the innocent They are the same; We are the same We are the way, and the wayfarers We are the way, and the wayfarers We are the way, and the wayfarers Verse 2: The robbed is not blameless in being robbed The white-handed is not clean In the doings of the felon And the guilty is oftentimes the victim Of the injured Still more often, the condemned is the burden bearer The condemned is the burden bearer For the guiltless and unblamed You cannot separate CHORUS
6.
Verse 1: I can relate You don’t like being told what to do When nobody listens to you You retaliate, now I’m running late I thought I could make you do what I wanted to But nobody pushes you CHORUS: Time Time Time I’ve been thinking that she’s mine Holding on so tight But give her space 2x Or she will slip away VERSE 2: We’re always watching you I’d be exhausted too If I was treated The way that we’re treating you I tell you you’re too slow But I won’t let you go faster ‘Cause I need to control you But I’m the fool CHORUS There’s a time for everything under the sun A time for silence, time to sing And when we’re done, a time die A time to laugh, time to cry Time to mourn, time to dance Time for closeness, time for distance A time to think, time to speak, time A time to sow, time to reap, time A time for struggle, time for peace, time I give in, you win, I’m never gonna Control you, I tried to And even when I think I have the upper hand It still turns out you’re in command I’m learning to balance the difference between Making the most of opportunities and Squandering this precious time CHORUS
7.
Ready 03:37
VERSE 1: Come a little closer So I can get to know you You don’t need to change a thing I just wanna see you For who you really are It could take a moment Though I never move slowly I’m always changing And if you get to know me You might find That I’m your kind of girl CHORUS: I don’t want to sound hasty But I’ve gotten to know myself I think I’m finally ready To try knowing someone else And I don’t mind if it takes a while I’ve got time for you VERSE 2: You throw yourself wholeheartedly into the stream of life To every opportunity You say “Hell Yeah” I like the way you’re not afraid To take a chance when you might fail [CHORUS] BRIDGE I’m usually only thinkin’ bout How someone makes me feel And that’s how I can tell This might be something real Cause I think you’re amazing With or without me [CHORUS]
8.
VERSE 1: Nothing that’s ahead of me Has spelled itself out quite so clearly As the way I spell my name It’s A-B-B- I Eventually will get to Where I’m going But it seems like here Is just where I was headed When I thought about it last year CHORUS: You can’t tell me what to do I’ll get to where I’m going with or without you You cant tell me what to do I’ll get to where I’m going with or without you with or without you VERSE 2: Everyone has expectations They can be a bit impatient I just need a short vacation So do you I believe success can mean A thousand different things To me it means that I am growing And to grow I need to breathe To me it means I’m showing All the finest sides of me [CHORUS] BRIDGE: Thank you for giving me space Thank you for wanting to help me Even when I push you away I’ll do what I think is best for me You can offer suggestions But please do it gently I’ve got a lot to learn I’ve got a ways to go I’m gonna take it easy ‘Cause I already like where I am I already like where I am CHORUS: You can’t tell me what to do I’ll get to where I’m going with or without you You can’t tell me what to do I’ll get to where I’m going with or without you, with or without youuuu You can’t tell me what to do I’ll get to where I’m going… And I like where I am I like where I am I like where I am I’ll get to where I’m going

Verse 1: How did we begin? I don’t remember It’s the story of creation We are ancient How did we begin? I don’t remember But I can’t forget your touch Like sunshine on my skin Prechorus: You wrote the story of the mountains I wrote the story of the air Don’t you remember? You were there Chorus: Love, do you know the whole story of us? Separated like Earth from the Sky Love, do you know the whole story of us? Distant lovers reaching across a divide Verse 2: You were there when the ocean was formed I can see it in your eyes though you may not remember I was there We have been forever Prechorus: You wrote the story of the mountains I wrote the story of the air Don’t you remember? You were there CHORUS BRIDGE part 1: My branches reaching for the light A wolf that’s howling in the night I’ll spread my wings and learn to fly So I can be with you 2x I sent a pouring rain So I could touch your face Hear me in roaring thunder Calling out your name 2x BRIDGE part 2: All I want to do is be with you All I want to do is be with you All I want to do is be with you CHORUS

Rest 05:20
Rest now and sleep The dawn is only waiting For you to be asleep For you to be asleep and then Again you will rise Open your eyes But not tonight Not tonight Now you must, you must just Rest now and sleep The morning will wait patiently There’s no need No need for worry There’s no need No need for hurry to reach the next moment when you are awake You do it every day You do it every day Take all your worries And put ‘em in a pile Close your eyes and just rest awhile If they were gone when you awoke You would wake with a smile Don’t hold on too tightly Just slip away into a dream You deserve it nightly And maybe More often You should just Rest Rest now and sleep The world is waiting patiently You’re not needed now The curtain is closing Just take a bow and exit the stage Soon enough the show will begin again Take every chance you can Take every chance you can Take every chance you can to Rest
